About Palmer

Palmer is a city in Hampden County, Massachusetts. Even though it is governed like a city, it still retains “The Town of” in its name. Founded in 1716, the town is comprised of four separate and distinct villages; Depot Village, Thorndike, Three Rivers and Bondsville. It also goes by the nickname “Town of Seven Railroads.”

In its early days, Palmer was home to many saw and grist mills which were established by the rivers. It later went on to become home to textile mills. Today, the economy of Palmer is more diversified and includes high-tech manufacturing, medical offices, and a new recreational motorsports raceway called Palmer Motorsports Park.

Palmer is also home to Camp Ramah in New England, the oldest Ramah summer camps, organized by a Jewish conservation center. The camp hosts 700 campers from New England, Washington and New York.
